More than a 100 camp and caravan sites offering pensioners' discounts all around South Africa

Camping and caravanning is a great way to travel and see the country without breaking the bank. During our working lives we are restricted to weekends or limited holiday camping and caravanning trips, but we dream of the day when we are retired and can make the most of long stay offers and travel from one beautiful site to the next.


Most camping and caravan parks around the country offer pensioner discounts! Making your dreams of a solo or group hop around the country so much more affordable. We had great fun scanning for fantastic deals and found more than a hundred on offer! We briefly highlight the discounts we found here. All can be accessed easily on our website, arranged by province under the category "travel".



Various options for camping or caravanning


Getting kit out for camping need not be expensive. You may own your own camping gear collected over years of enjoyable breakaways. But you can also rent gear or a caravan for a period of time. Alternatively, second hand sites offer value for money purchases.


Camping in a tent may become uncomfortable at a certain stage in your life and it is then when caravanning becomes an attractive option as it is easy to pitch camp and protects you against the elements. My mother's one friend renovated her car to enable her to easily and comfortably sleep in it whenever she goes away for a camping weekend.

Types of pensioner discounts offered to campers and caravanners


In our search to find you the best pensioner discounts out there for camping and caravanning we noticed different types of discounts on offer, namely:

  • Mid-week specials for pensioners who are flexible to camp during the week whilst higher prices apply over weekends.

  • Long stay discounts for pensioners offering discounted monthly prices, but stay is usually capped at one to maximum three months, depending on the rules appliable to the site.

  • Often discounts for pensioners at popular coastal resorts do not apply during long weekends or December holidays. 💡 But seasoned campers advise that the trick is to then pack up and head inland where various discounted options are available during peak holiday seasons.

Whether it is bush veld or the sea that calls you to set up camp and light the fire, we found camping and caravanning sites across all 9 provinces to entice you to embrace the travel bug in our beautiful country! Each of these offers come with conditions about the season during which it is applicable or not, the days of the week during which the offers are valid and whether it is for a minimum or maximum stay or whether pets are allowed or not.
