Angela at her happy place - the ocean!
Some of the Pensioners Forum members
Hi there – glad you found us!
If you’ve landed here while hunting for discounts, useful discoveries or simply trying to figure out what this whole Pensioners PayLess thing is about — welcome. I’m really glad you found us.
My journey into the over-60s world started almost ten years ago and, somewhere along the way, I accidentally became one of those people who can get genuinely excited about pensioner perks, community stories and hearing what everyone’s grandchildren are up to.
The funny part? I’m now getting a lot closer to sixty myself than I was when this all started. Time has a cheeky way of doing that.
Over the years, through Pensioners Forum and the wonderful community that has embraced me, I’ve learned that life after 60 is nothing like the stereotypes many of us grew up with. It’s not all slippers and afternoon naps. It's road trips, friendships, new hobbies, strong opinions, belly laughs and people deciding that 70 seems like the perfect age to start something new.
I’ve fallen completely in love with this community and feel incredibly grateful for the people who have welcomed me into their world over the years. I’ve learned far more than I could ever give back.
I’m also deeply grateful to Lirette and Maryke, whose original vision for Pensioners PayLess fits so naturally with the path I was already walking. Sometimes life quietly lines things up when you least expect it.
So whether you’re here for savings opportunities, stories, news, views or useful discoveries — pull up a chair and make yourself at home.
You’re among friends here.
Angela

Where It All Began
Before Pensioners PayLess became what it is today, it started with us — two sisters and an idea.
Back in the autumn of 2025, we found ourselves inspired by our 76-year-old mom and her energetic circle of friends, who were embracing life and making the most of the many discounts and opportunities available to people over 55. We realised that many of these great savings opportunities were still being shared mainly by word of mouth, so we decided to create a place where people could discover them more easily.
The idea itself was shaped long before the website began. Growing up in Namaqualand and the Karoo, with a father who was always creating, building and dreaming big, we learned the value of community, connection and trying something new.
Different lives eventually took us in different directions, but one shared vision stayed the same — creating something meaningful that could help others.
As Pensioners PayLess continues its journey, we’re incredibly happy that Angela is carrying the vision forward. Her passion for the over-60s community and the work she has done over the years make her the perfect person to continue what we started.
With love,

A win for local businesses too
But here's the thing – this website isn’t just meant for pensioners. It’s here to help local businesses too.
By listing their specials on our site, businesses get the chance to highlight their offers in one central place – where people are actively looking for them. And while offering discounts may seem purely altruistic, it can actually be a smart move for the bottom line.
Why? Because pensioners are often more flexible with their time. They can shop or dine during quieter weekday hours when foot traffic is low. That makes them an ideal group to target if you’re trying to fill those slower times. Plus, pensioners don’t always shop alone – if they love a deal, chances are they’ll bring their family or friends along too. One happy customer can easily turn into a whole group.
And let’s not forget the positive reputation that comes with being seen as a business that supports older members of the community. People talk – and goodwill like that tends to spread.
So yes, we built this for the pensioners we love. But we also built it for the coffee shops, hairdressers, fitness studios, and local stores we believe in. It really can be a win-win.
